Psalms 86:5 For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.

It's a common misconception today that s Christians we should forgive those who have wronged us -- even if they do not seek forgiveness from us.  This is not scriptural.  We are to forgive how God forgives us -- he is faithful and just to forgive us our sin if we confess them to him.  We must seek God for forgiveness, calling upon him.  BUT when it comes to forgiving others, we are to have hearts that are ready to forgive, and when the person who has wronged us comes to us we are to forgive them.  Matthew 18 lays a great foundation for forgiveness and reconciliation.

How great is our God!  How great is his mercy that he is ready and willing to forgive those that "call upon the name of the Lord".
