Isaiah 43:1-2 But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. We are a child of God, He has redeemed us, paid the price on the cross and bought us with his shed blood. He has called us and we are his. This promise to Israel is also applicable to use as believers in Jesus Christ today. We are God's we have been adopted because of the work of Christ and we've been reconciled to God. When we encounter hard times, God will be with us. When we encounter extremely hard times, they shall not consume us, God will be with us. Though we face trials and temptations, we shall not be burned or consumed by them, it will burn away the chaff and we will be made stronger by it. We are told to "count it all joy" (Jas 1:2), knowing that these trials works patience, that we may be perfect, complete and wanting nothing. God is our strength, in him we trust. |
