A few months ago there was some hub-bub in the media created by an atheist group in the UK who did an ad campaign.  They put signs on public transit that read "God is not real.  Now get over it and get on with your day".  There is an atheist group here in Calgary that wanted to do the same thing.

This morning as I was waiting for my bus, and another bus drove by that said "God cares for everyone... even for those who say that he doesn't exist!".  They also had a link to their website www.godexists.ca.  I was encouraged when I saw this, but when I got to work and visited their website I was greatly disappointed.  The website was just a picture of the advertisement on a city bus and a place for people to add comments and discuss.

Why make a statement like "God exists!" and then only provide people a place to comment and discuss? ...as if people could discuss and reason amongst themselves and show others that God exists!  People are blinded and ignorant of God, having them discuss amongst themselves will profit nothing.  God has given us his word in the Bible, that is our source of knowledge.  That is where we turn to learn about him.  A comment like "if God exists, why doesn't he show himself?" just goes to show the ignorance of people.

I don't have the time here at work to delve deep into reasons why the God of the Bible is the one true God, but I will end with this small analogy.

Imagine a bird feeder in your back yard; you enjoy watching the birds come to the feeder in the morning while you sit and eat your breakfast.  Every Saturday you make sure that the feeder is full of seed so the birds have plenty to eat during the week.  The birds fly and land on the feeder, eat the seeds and sing to one another.  You feel good knowing that you are helping to sustain these birds; you recognize the birds that return every day for feeding, and get excited when a new bird arrives at your feeder.

Now these birds cannot possible comprehend you.  They don't understand the how the feeder works or was made; they don't understand that you fill the feeder every Saturday; that you sustain the seed so it doesn't run out.  They don't even know that you are in your house watching them as they enjoy what you have provided them.  They don't know you; they can't possibly understand who or even what you are!

We are creatures just the same as birds, granted we have more intellectual capacity then a bird but just as a bird cannot comprehend us, we cannot comprehend God.  To deny the fact that we are limited and cannot comprehend a supreme being as God is foolishness.

Back to the godexists.ca website, could birds chirping around a feeder ever reason out your existence and how they get their food?  ...of course not.  But God has provided his creation and his word that we may catch a glimpse or our creator and give him the worship that he deserves!  You want God to show himself?  Open your eyes.
