Welcome to my Daily Reading Blog.  Currently I'm doing a daily reading with a number of other men from our church where we read through a book of the Bible every day for a month.

Each of my daily posts consist of a thought or a verse that I found noteworthy from my reading.

During the month of August we are reading Romans chapters 13 to 16 once a day.

The sovereignty of God is clear in the book of Philippians.  Here are some verses which show how God is working in us.

Philippians 1:6 "He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus."
Philippians 1:28 "salvation for you, and that too, from God."
Philippians 1:29 "For to you it has been granted for Christ's sake, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake"

Notice it is He (God) who began a good work (ie salvation), and it is God who will keep us.  Salvation is from God; belief is from God, it has been granted to us to believe!  Salvation starts and ends with God.

Philippians 1:11 "having been filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God."
Philippians 3:9 "righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith

The righteousness that we have comes from God through Jesus Christ, it is not our own!  Our righteousness is rubbish before the holy God.

Philippians 2:13 "for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure."
Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Him who strengthens me."
Philippians 4:19 "And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus."

Our desire to do good, and the good that we do is all a work of God.  It is God who strengthens us; it is His work for His good pleasure.

Philippians 3:21 "by the exertion of the power that He has even to subject all things to Himself.

All things are subject to Christ.  He is Lord or all.

God's work in us starts with salvation where we receive a righteousness through faith where both the righteousness and faith come from Him.  He keeps us and works in us to do His will according to His good pleasure, subjecting all things to Himself.
