Philippians 2:9-11 "God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." These verses follow the passage describing how Christ was obedient, even to death on a cross, and for this reason He is highly exalted by the Father. Because of Christ's work and victory over sin and death on the cross we're told that every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord. So in the future, everyone (whether in heaven, on earth or under the earth) WILL bow and confess Jesus is Lord. As I see it, there are two options: we can do so willingly and with an attitude of thanksgiving and honor for Christ; or we will be shattered and forced to our knees by a rod of iron! (Psalms 2:9; Revelation 2:27) Everyone WILL bow and confess; it is just the manner that will be different. Tags: |
