Philippians 3:13-14 "Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus." My Bible has the heading "The Goal of Life" before this section. I plan to discuss in the future what exactly this goal that Paul is pressing toward; but for today I wanted to note how Pauls tells the Philippians to "forget what lies behind", or what is in the past. We all have things in our past that we regret. Just this week I was regretting that I've spent most of my life chasing ungodly things and how I've wasted that time. This is counter productive; we are to forget what is behind us, and look forward to what is ahead of us - ultimately the prize is the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Your past shapes who you are, and God has led you to where you are now. Where you are now is where God wants you to be; may you now seek to reach forward to pursue God, forgetting what is behind you.
