Welcome to my Daily Reading Blog.  Currently I'm doing a daily reading with a number of other men from our church where we read through a book of the Bible every day for a month.

Each of my daily posts consist of a thought or a verse that I found noteworthy from my reading.

During the month of August we are reading Romans chapters 13 to 16 once a day.

Romans 1:5 "[Jesus Christ our Lord,] through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith among all the Gentiles for His name's sake"

I'm reading For the Sake of His Name: Challenging a New Generation for World Missions (available here) for an upcoming class this fall.  The idea that the gospel and those that receive God's grace and are saved is so clearly defined in many places to be for the sake of His name.

The gospel (salvation offered to mankind) is a good news for us, but of first importance it demonstrates the love, mercy and grace of God.  God is ultimately bringing glory to Himself by showing mercy on His people.  What great news that God has chosen to show us mercy, graciously saving us so that He is praised and He gets the glory.
