Welcome to my Daily Reading Blog.  Currently I'm doing a daily reading with a number of other men from our church where we read through a book of the Bible every day for a month.

Each of my daily posts consist of a thought or a verse that I found noteworthy from my reading.

During the month of August we are reading Romans chapters 13 to 16 once a day.

Romans 1:5 "[Jesus Christ our Lord,] through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith among all the Gentiles for His name's sake"

The same verse that was quoted yesterday has another interesting term: obedience of faith.  So what is the obedience of faith?

When we have faith in Jesus Christ, when we believe in Him, believe the promises of God concerning Christ, then by this faith in God we obey.  As it states in 1 John, if you love God, you will obey His commandments.  Saving faith that comes from God is not a dead faith that is discussed in James 2, but it is a living faith that produces obedience.

Hebrews 11:8 "By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed by going out to a place which he was to receive for an inheritance; and he went out, not knowing where he was going."

May out faith bring obedience to God, if not then we have to question our faith to test it to see if it is a genuine saving faith that is wrought by God.
