Romans 2:21-24 "you, therefore, who teach another, do you not teach yourself? You who preach that one shall not steal, do you steal? You who say that one should not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? You who boast in the Law, through your breaking the Law, do you dishonor God? For "THE NAME OF GOD IS BLASPHEMED AMONG THE GENTILES BECAUSE OF YOU," just as it is written." While this passage is a serious charge against the Jews at Rome, but can equally be applied to Christians of our day. Do we teach that we should not steal? Yet steal by downloading illegal software, music, movies, etc. Do we teach that we should not commit adultery? Yet the divorce rates in a church are the same as they are in the world. This charge can be laid quite easily against "Christians" of our day; as a result the precious name of God is blasphemed among unbelievers. They say "if that is how Christians behave then I don't want your God." We are called to walk worthy of the gospel; called to be ambassadors; called to proclaim Christ by our actions; called to be a shining light in the world. Are we? Tags: |
