Welcome to my Daily Reading Blog.  Currently I'm doing a daily reading with a number of other men from our church where we read through a book of the Bible every day for a month.

Each of my daily posts consist of a thought or a verse that I found noteworthy from my reading.

During the month of August we are reading Romans chapters 13 to 16 once a day.

Romans 1:20-22 "...they are without excuse. For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools"

The attributes of God that are visible and that are put within us condemn us.  As it says in verse 20, "they are without excuse."  Why are they condemned?  Because they know God, but do not honor Him as God or give thanks, they live their lives in rebellion to their creator.

This revelation that is within us and around us is enough to condemn us, to make us guilty, but it doesn't have the power to save us.  Paul continues to explain how it's the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, His sacrifice for sin that provides the only escape from this condemnation.  What a blessing it is for God to open the eyes of His people so that they can escape the futility of our own minds.  We're as undeserving as the next person, but God, being rich in mercy demonstrated His love to His children.

May we thank Him for opening our eyes so we can see His invisible attributes and so we can believe in the Son of God, the only pathway to eternal life.
